CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The University of Charleston announced Martin Roth as its next president, succeeding Edwin Welch when he retires next June.
Roth currently serves as the dean of the Barney School of Business at the University of Hartford. According to the University of Charleston, Roth was responsible for increasing in enrollments, program innovation and corporate partnerships.
“The focus on professional programs, innovation, and community engagement sets the University apart. With the outstanding faculty and staff, I look forward to building on UC’s impressive momentum to create exceptional value for students and partner organizations,” Roth said in a press release.
The university Board of Trustees also Friday elected Pat Graney to the position of chairman-elect. Graney will succeed Henry Harmon at the conclusion of Harmon’s term on June 30. Garney was also responsible for leading the search committee for a new university president.
