Holiday shoppers slowed on busy stretch of I-64

UPDATE 10:30 p.m. Saturday  Kanawha County Metro 911 says I-64 East at Lee Street could be down to one lane until 7 a.m. Sunday

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Motorists who were part of a busy Saturday of holiday shopping in the Kanawha Valley were slowed by a big truck that broke down on Interstate 64.

It began at about 10 a.m. in the slow lane near the westbound Virginia Street on ramp in the Capital City. The truck broke down and crews had to close two of the three eastbound lanes which backed up traffic for a few miles. Traffic flow did improve by Saturday evening.

The truck was expected to be removed from the area some time Saturday night.
