Justice says state workers can start Christmas holiday early

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — State workers will get a half-day off Friday afternoon, according to Gov. Jim Justice.

Justice recently signed an executive order making Friday afternoon, Dec. 22, an official holiday for all public employees of the state.

State workers will receive four hours off without having to take time from their annual leave, Justice said.

“In recognition of the hard work accomplished by the public employees of this state during 2017, and in acknowledgement of the holiday season, I am granting them this time off to spend an extended and enjoyable holiday with their loved ones,” Justice said in the proclamation.

State workers already have Monday, Dec. 25, off as a holiday for Christmas.
