MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A handful of the state’s top football recruits for 2018 on Wednesday utilized the new college football early signing period, which runs through Friday.
Fairmont Senior defensive lineman Dante Stills signed with West Virginia — he ended his senior season with 81 tackles, 31.5 for loss and 11 sacks.
Martinsburg defensive end Tavis Lee is also a WVU commitment, but said Wednesday he will wait to sign with the Mountaineers in February, adding that he’s still fully committed to WVU.
At Marshall, the Herd signed a pair of Spring Valley standouts in linebacker Owen Porter and linebacker/tight end Jacob Cassidy. Porter ended the year with 161 total tackles, while Cassidy tallied 62 tackles.
Cabell Midland linebacker/running back Isaiah Duncan also signed with the Herd on Wednesday. He rushed for 1,443 yards and scored 16 touchdowns for the Knights in 2017, also collecting 34 tackles defensively.
Wheeling Park quarterback Cross Wilkinson made his signing official with Toledo. The senior standout this season threw for 2,406 yards and 18 touchdowns for the Patriots.
