Woman kidnapped, held captive for six days in Wyoming County residence

BEARTOWN, W.Va. — A Mercer County man is under arrest after allegedly kidnapping a woman and holding her against her will for days in Wyoming County.

According to Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Jimmy White, John Mullins, 39 of Matoaka, allegedly held the woman captive in a Crumpler Road residence from December 13-18.

During that time, she was reportedly beaten and sexually assaulted numerous times.

The victim was eventually able to run to a neighboring home when Mullins was not present. Police arrested him and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment.

Mullins faces charges of kidnapping, malicious wounding and sexual assault. He is being held at the Southern Regional Jail in Raleigh County on $50,000 bond.
