Traffic moving again after accident involving at least six vehicles on I-79

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — At least six vehicles were involved in an accident on I-79 southbound that shut the road way for about an hour.

Harrison County 911 confirmed the highway would re-open within the hour, but clean-up remained ongoing at 3:15 p.m. Friday afternoon. It’s possible as many as 10 vehicles were involved in the wreck. It’s not yet clear what caused the accident. One person was transported to United Hospital Center in Bridgeport with minor injuries.

Traffic was backed up at least four miles from the 119 southbound exit.

The Clarksburg Police Department is investigating.
