One person airlifted following Raleigh County shooting

DRY CREEK, W.Va. — The investigation continues after an early morning shooting critically injured a woman in Raleigh County.

The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department responded to Circle Drive in Dry Creek at around 3:30 in the morning. A 911 caller told dispatchers a female had been shot outside of a residence.

Upon arrival, deputies learned an altercation occurred inside of the home before moving outside. Multiple shots were fired after the argument escalate. The victim, who was shot in the torso, was airlifted to Charleston Area Medical Center for treatment. She has been listed in critical condition.

While no charges have been filed as the investigation continues, Carolyn Asbury was arrested for allegedly trying to bite and hit deputies during questioning. Another individual, Jerry Dickens, was transported to the Sheriff’s Office for further questioning.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident. No charges had been filed as of Friday afternoon.
