Second suspect in Charleston shooting arrested in Detroit

DETROIT — U.S. Marshal arrested Wednesday the second man accused of shooting a Charleston man earlier in December.

Jayrionte Thomas, 18, was arrested in Detroit. Thomas and 19-year-old Marcus Young are accused of shooting 27-year-old Terrell Davenport, of South Charleston, on Dec. 14 on 7th Avenue. Davenport died the following day from his injuries.

Young was captured in Detroit on Dec. 22. Charleston Police Cheif Steve Cooper said Wednesday a governor’s warrant may be needed to extradite Young to West Virginia.

Both Thomas and Young were charged with first degree murder, malicious wounding and wanton endangerment.
