Taylor County man charged with wife’s murder

TAYLOR COUNTY, W.Va. — A Taylor County man was behind bars at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on New Year’s Day on charges connected to the murder of his wife.

No bond was immediately set for John Hess, 47, of Flemington, who was booked on Sunday, according to jail records.

Deputies with the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department claimed he shot and killed his wife, Abigail Hess, 38, at the couple’s Flemington home after 12 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators said the alleged murder weapon was a shotgun.

The investigation continued on Monday.
