Duplex fire displaces more than a dozen people in Morgantown

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Fourteen people have been displaced following a Monday morning fire in Morgantow, but nobody was injured.

The fire occurred around 8:30 a.m. Monday morning. Firefighters arrived to find a working fire coming from the rear of a duplex rental. Engine 2 from Norwood Fire discovered the fire while they were traveling through the area.

Investigators believe the fire began inside the wall of a utility room where water lines had been wrapped with electric heat tape.

The Morgantown Fire Department has determined the fire was accidental.

Investigators believe the fire caused about $100,000 worth of damage.
