W.Va. woman admits to ripping off elderly Virginia woman

WISE, Va. — A Boone County woman working as a home health nurse in Virginia has admitted to charges related to stealing form an elderly client.

Wendy Goad, 38, of Comfort, W.Va. worked as a substitute home health nurse in Wise County, Virginia at the time of the incident. This week she pleaded guilty to grand larceny, credit card fraud, attempted credit card fraud, and forgery in Wise County Circuit Court.

Goad admitted taking items from the home of the elderly victim and after transporting the victim to another location returned to her home and removed even more items.

The Virginia prosecutor said the elderly victim gave Goad her bank card to buy six grocery items. Instead, Goad admitted purchasing $495 worth of materials at Walmart for her own use. She returned to use the card again, but the second time the card had been frozen and didn’t’ work.

Goad is scheduled to be sentenced on March 14, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. in the Wise County Circuit Court in Wise, Virginia.
