KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. — No charges were expected to be filed in connection with a deadly shooting in Kanawha County.
Deputies with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department confirmed one person was shot and killed before 4:30 a.m. Saturday in Jefferson.
Investigators said the shooting happened during a break in attempt on Destiny Lane.
A man, age 82, who was working in his garage at the time reportedly shot 24-year-old Timothy Dean Coker, of Ripley, who allegedly broke in through a window and threatened him.
No charges were immediately filed against the property owner and there were no indications charges would be filed in the future.
Deputies remained at the shooting scene on Saturday morning.
