National Park Service officials confirm the body of George Andrew Gross was recovered earlier today in the Diamond Point area of the New River Gorge National River.
No further details, including a cause of death, are available at this time.

Officials with the National Park Service said multiple agencies have resumed searching for George Andrew Gross this morning in the park. Police dogs were used last evening but did not provide any results.

National Park Service officials said late Monday the missing man’s vehicle has been located inside of New River Gorge National Park. They have cancelled the search for George Andrew Gross. No further details are available.

FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — West Virginia State Police and New River Gorge National Park Rangers are seeking help in locating a man possibly missing in or around the park.
George Andrew Gross, 56 of Pittsburgh, was believed to be heading to the Beckley area on January 12. He reportedly talked about hiking the New River Gorge before leaving home. He has not been heard from since.
Authorities describe Gross as 6’1”, weighs about 210 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. He has a “USMC” tattoo on his left arm.
He drives a Dodge Ram pick up truck with Pennsylvania tag YDA-1398. Anyone with information should call police immediately.
