Trucks ‘blown over’ on Fancy Gap Mountain

FANCY GAP, Va. –West Virginians traveling through Virginia on Interstate 77 near the North Carolina state line know about the high wind warnings on Fancy Gap Mountain. On Thursday morning, those warnings became a reality for a handful of a truck drivers.

Northbound traffic was backed up Thursday morning heading up Fancy Gap Mountain in Virginia.

Virginia State Police reports three tractor-trailers were “blown over” by the high winds on Fancy Gap Mountain in Carroll County, Virginia. All three trucks were headed north.

Northbound traffic was expected to be slowed for several hours. Authorities said the trucks can’t be moved until the wind dies down.

There was no immediate word on possible injuries.
