CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A U.S. district judge sentenced a former nursing home employee to 13 months in federal prison for embezzling thousands of dollars from a Princeton facility.

Veneford Blankenship, 35, of Bluefield, previously pleaded guilty to mail fraud. She worked as a business office supervisor for a Princeton nursing home.

She previously admitted to secretly diverting payment checks into a second bank account dedicated for outings beginning in June 2015, and later wrote checks from that account to herself.

She also falsely reported in the nursing home’s accounting program that invoices had been paid.

Blankenship will also have to pay back $81,486.15 in restitution.
