Raleigh County man sentenced to life in prison with mercy for kidnapping

BECKLEY, W.Va. — A Raleigh County Circuit Court judge sentenced a Naoma man to life in prison with mercy Tuesday in connection with August 2017 kidnapping of an elderly woman.

Brandon Cantley, 33, previously entered a plea agreement that dismisses multiple counts he was facing, including first-degree robbery, malicious wounding and violent crimes against the elderly.

Cantley had robbed a 91-year-old woman and her caregiver at gunpoint on Aug. 9 at her Dry Creek Road residence. Cantley took several items, including a 2001 Jeep Cherokee.
