MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Martinsburg junior linebacker and running back Dewayne Grantham on Saturday night announced his commitment to West Virginia’s 2019 recruiting class.
“I would first like to thank God for allowing me to continue my dreams and play college football at the next level,” Grantham tweeted. “I would also like to thank my family and coaches for pushing me to get where I am today. I would not be the person I am today without you guys.
“All glory to God for allowing me to continue my dreams,” he continued. “With that being said, I am committed to West Virginia University.”
As a junior this past season, Grantham was third on the team in tackles, finishing with 86 total tackles, a forced fumble and an interception. He had 12 tackles for loss. Offensively, Grantham led Martinsburg on the ground with 1,118 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns on 105 carries.
Grantham is listed at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds. His senior teammate Tavis Lee, a defensive end, is expected to sign with West Virginia next month after committing to the Mountaineers’ current 2018 recruiting class back in the fall.
Martinsburg has won the last two Class AAA state championships and 28 straight games overall.
