ESKDALE, W.Va. — A Kanawha County man is in custody charged in the Friday night shooting death of another man.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department announced Saturday afternoon deputies had charged Gary Murphy, 27, of Eskdale, with first degree murder following the shooting death of Joey Rose, 37, of Cabin Creek.
Murphy was detained Friday night by deputies who were called to the scene in Eskdale. They said at the time 13 shell casings had been found at the scene and the gun believed used in the shooting.
According to new information released Saturday by deputies, Murphy and two others confronted Rose on Cabin Creek Road in connection with an ongoing disagreement. Murphy shot Rose during the confrontation, deputies said.
Murphy is being held in the South Central Regional Jail without bail.
The investigation into the shooting is continuing.
