MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Buckhannon-Upshur remains the top rated team in the updated edition of the girls basketball Power Index, presented by Critical Power Management.
The Buccaneers (20-1) have won 16 games in a row and will close out the regular season next week against Elkins.
No. 2 Parkersburg South (16-3) has also been on a roll, winning 10 straight games heading into the weekend. Included in that stretch are wins over No. 4 Morgantown, No. 5 Parkersburg, No. 6 Wheeling Park and No. 13 George Washington.
North Marion (18-1) is the highest rated team out of Class AA, coming in at No. 3 overall. The Huskies entered Thursday having won 12 straight games.
No. 14 Tucker County (17-1) is the highest rated team out of Class A. Defending state champion St. Joseph Central (11-5), meanwhile, is undefeated in-state and has wins over Wyoming East, Martinsburg and George Washington.
