WVU student in surgery following vehicle accident

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A woman is undergoing emergency surgery following an auto-pedestrian accident Tuesday morning in Monongalia County.

A Ford F-Series Truck driving on Monongahela Boulevard struck a woman shortly after 10:30 a.m. She was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital. She remained in surgery until at least 12:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

Traffic reconstructionists and investigators are still investigating what led to the crash.

The victim’s identity has not been released, but The Dominion Post reports she is a WVU student. Her parents are reportedly en route to Morgantown.

This is the second WVU student hit in an auto-pedestrian accident this month in Morgantown. 21-year-old Leah Berhanu died Feb. 1 in an accident near Evansdale Crossing.
