Arrest made in 36-year-old Harrison County cold case

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A Clarksburg man is charged in connection to a 36-year-old unsolved murder of a child in Harrison County, the local Sheriff’s Department confirmed Wednesday.

William Clyde Jeffries, 53, is in custody for the death seven-year-old Conrad Roger Diaz.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department and West Virginia State Police collaborated to re-open the case in hopes of developing additional evidence.

Sheriff Robert Matheny and Sergeant Mark Kiddy released a joint statement Wednesday.

“The collaborative effort amongst their respective departments, as well as Clarksburg Police Department and the FBI, was essential in this outcome. Our thoughts and prayers are extended to the family during this difficult situation.”
