Man injured following auto-pedestrian accident on Mon Boulevard before WVU game

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — One person was treated for non-life threatening injuries following an auto-pedestrian collision on Monongahela Boulevard Monday night.

A man attending the WVU-Texas Tech game had forgotten his tickets, crossed the street to pick them up, and stepped out in front of a vehicle. The injury occurred in his upper body, but was not life threatening, according to WVU Chief of Police Bob Roberts.

It was before the area where WVU police begin directing gameday traffic, closer to Star City, Roberts said.

WVU Police were the closest on scene and are handling the investigation, but Roberts said it appears to have been pedestrian error.

This is the third auto-pedestrian accident in that area since Feb. 1. 21-year-old Leah Berhanu was killed in an accident near Evansdale Crossing.

20-year-old Sarah Queen was injured weeks later and was in critical condition last week. There has been no update on her condition since.
