Nicholas County pair charged after child swallows pills

SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. — Two people have been charged in a March 5 incident that left a child sick in the hospital.

The Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department said the 3 year-old was taken to Summersville Regional Medical Center after taking several prescription pills that were left within easy reach. The child was later sent to a Charleston hospital for further treatment.

Junior Stewart II, 48 and Melody Stewart, 33 both of Summersville were arrested in connection with the case. They each face a charge of Child Neglect.

The incident remains under investigation by the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department.
