Georgia 3-star receiver commits to WVU over Auburn, Ohio State

Deshon Stoudemire of Stephenson High in Stone Mountain, Ga., holds offers from Auburn, Ohio State and South Carolina among others.

Stone Mountain (Ga.) receiver Deshon Stoudemire committed to West Virginia on Friday, becoming the fifth commitment for 2019.

A 6-foot-1, 170-pound Rivals three-star prospect from Stephenson High, he holds offers from a cluster of major programs including Auburn, Ohio State, Michigan State, Louisville, Nebraska, South Carolina, Iowa State and Syracuse.

West Virginia cornerbacks coach Doug Belk has been relying on his home-state ties to mine Georgia, particularly the talent-rich Atlanta metro area.

Stoudemire was in the middle of a weekend visit to Morgantown when he pledged. The Mountaineers figure to be rebuilding their receiving unit after next season when David Sills and Gary Jennings graduate.
