Search continues for woman who fled in police cruiser

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Marion County authorities say the search continues for a woman who escaped custody Friday in a police cruiser.

Bridgette Vessecchia was detained Friday morning as part of an investigation into a stolen vehicle according to Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies. While detained, she managed to get into the driver’s seat of the cruiser and take off.

Authorities say Vessecchia abandoned the vehicle in the community of Whitehall and fled on foot.

Vessecchia is about 5’2″, 130 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Deputies say she was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black yoga pants. Anyone known here whereabouts is asked to call the Marion County Sheriff’s Department at 304-367-5300.
