Search continues for drowning victim reported in West Fork River

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Authorities are back on scene in search of a body reportedly spotted in the West Fork River over the weekend.

Harrison County 911 received a call of a drowning near River Road in Clarksburg just after 5 p.m. Saturday.

Clarksburg Police Department, along with a dive team from the Morgantown Police Department, conducted a search yesterday. Clarksburg Deputy Chief Jason Snider said crews searched for seven to eight hours with no avail.

“It’s not so much a search and rescue at this point. We’re expecting a recovery,” Snider said. “We’re still looking, and hopefully we find something here soon.”

Snider said there are no leads at this time. No missing person reports have been filed.
