Watch: George Washington’s Rick Greene reflects on AAA title

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — George Washington boys basketball coach Rick Greene was a recent guest on ‘MetroNews Talkline’ with Hoppy Kercheval, reflecting on the Patriots’ Class AAA boys basketball state championship.

“What a thrill, what a great group of kids we had,” Greene said. “Every year you try to win it, but we felt like if we were going to do it, we thought we had a really good chance (this year). We felt like we could play with anybody in the state and if fell into place, we could win it.

“When we played well, it was truly a team effort,” he continued. “Everyone had their role and contributed. They wanted to play for each other and take care of their teammates. It’s a little old school, but I think old school is pretty good, actually.”
