4 charged in Wyoming County beating posted on social media

OCEANA, W.Va. — More information has been released on a Wyoming County assault case from last weekend.

According to Wyoming County Prosecuting Attorney Michael Cochran, a video surfaced on Facebook and Snapchat showing a man being assaulted.

“There’s a video that popped up through Facebook of one young man, and maybe some more in the room, beating another young man,” said Cochran. “That other young man was just sitting there taking it.”

An investigation has determined the incident began in an Oceana apartment on March 22. Josh Allen and Hunter Lusk entered the apartment and began yelling at the victim. When the victim said he did not want to fight, the two allegedly assaulted him repeatedly before taking him to another apartment in Lynco, about 5 miles from Oceana.

The beatings continued in the Lynco apartment. Two more suspects, Dalton Watts and Aaron Irick, were charged in connection to events at that location.

Allen faces charges of kidnapping, malicious wounding and conspiracy. Lusk has been charged with two counts of conspiracy. Watts has a count of conspiracy against him and Irick is charged with both kidnapping and conspiracy.

The victim went to Logan Regional Hospital following the incident.

“He had surgery,” said Cochran. “One was on an unrelated medical condition the other from injuries sustained in this attack. He was released from the hospital a couple of days ago and he’s now home.”

The case remains under investigation by Oceana Police, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department and West Virginia State Police.
