7-vehicle crash in Fayetteville injures several

FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — A multiple vehicle crash sent several to the hospital.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department says it was first reported to dispatchers at around noon Tuesday at the intersection of U.S. Route 19 and Whitewater Avenue. First responders found seven vehicles had crashed, including a tractor trailer and a coal truck.

12 people were involved in the wreck, including a juvenile. Only two were transported to Charleston Area Medical Center with serious injuries. The rest were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.

Two people involved had to be extracted from their vehicles by the Fayetteville and Oak Hill Fire Departments.

The accident remains under investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, Fayetteville Police and West Virginia State Police.
