John Marshall names Jason Willis as new football coach

MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va.— Coming off of its most successful football season in 21 years, John Marshall will have a new coaching era in 2018 under newly named head coach Jason Willis.

Willis replaces former head coach Rick Goodrich who stepped down back in January.

Willis has been an assistant with the Monarchs since 2008, serving in his most recent role as offensive coordinator. He also had a four-year stint as the defensive coordinator at Cameron.

John Marshall last year won its first playoff game since 1996, beating Parkersburg 42-35 in the opening round. It was the first postseason appearance for the Monarchs since 2007.

John Marshall ended the year with an 8-4 record, falling to eventual state champion Martinsburg in the quarterfinals.
