Pratt firefighter to be remembered in Tuesday funeral

PRATT, W.Va. — Another long procession is expected Tuesday afternoon in eastern Kanawha County as a second Pratt volunteer firefighter is remembered in funeral services.

Mike Edwards and Tom Craigo

Lt. Tom Craigo, 40, of Hansford, was killed in a March 24 fire truck wreck on Paint Creek Road. The five-member Pratt VFD crew was responding to a fatal wreck on the West Virginia Turnpike when the wreck occurred.

A procession in excess of two miles followed Saturday’s funeral of Pratt Assistant Fire Chief Mike Edwards, who was also killed in the crash. It included more than 50 fire trucks. The procession went under crossed ladder trucks several times on the route.

The state Fire Marshal’s Office announced the route for Craigo’s procession Monday. It will begin after the 2 p.m. Tuesday funeral at Riverside High School, cross the Kanawha River at Chelyan, travel state Route 61 past the Pratt Fire Station, cross back over the Kanawha River at Montgomery and then west on U.S. Route 60 to Montgomery Memorial Park for burial.

Ladder trucks will be crossed at the intersection of Route 61 and Paint Creek Road and at the cemetery.

Visitation services for Craigo are scheduled for Monday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Riverside High.
