Harrison County crash claims life of 12-year-old girl

ANMOORE, W.Va. — A 12-year-old girl was killed in a vehicle accident Tuesday in on Interstate 79 in Harrison County.

The crash occurred near mile marker 118 just before 3:30 p.m.

Karissa Friel was pronounced dead at the scene after a car she was riding in collided with a flat bed truck. April Friel, 34, of Pocahontas County, was driving the car and lost control, entering the path of the flatbed truck, driven by Roger Watson, 41, of Elkins.

According to State Police, the truck struck the car and then overturned off the right side of the highway. Watson did not sustain any injuries.

April Friel and two other children were taken to United Hospital Center for non-life threatening injuries.
