Kobie Carpenter powers Lincoln in 9 innings over Philip Barbour

SHINNSTON, W.Va. — Kobie Carpenter hit a walk-off solo home run in the ninth inning as Lincoln edged visiting Philip Barbour 3-2 on Thursday night.

Carpenter also pitched the final two-plus innings for the Cougars (2-0), giving up one hit and striking out five, picking up the win. The senior standout also led Lincoln at the plate, going 3 for 4 with an RBI and scoring all three of the Cougars’ runs.

Patrick Bart also had two hits and two RBIs for Lincoln, while David Akers totaled two hits as well.

Hunter Moore finished with 13 strikeouts in the no-decision for Lincoln, going six and two-thirds innings, giving up two runs on three hits.

Nathan Baldwin got the start for Philip Barbour (1-2) on the mound and struck-out nine in the no-decision. He also drove in both Philip Barbour runs with a two-RBI single in the sixth.
