Sexual predator wanted in two states arrested

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A man wanted in both Oklahoma and Florida is arrested in West Virginia.

State Troopers and the Charleston Police Department on Friday night took into custody Matthew Laney, 31. He had been living in recent days in a tent on a hillside in Charleston and was arrested at a fitness center in Kanawha City.

Laney is a convicted sex offender and was wanted for failing to register his sex offender status. He was also wanted for threatening to shoot up a probation office last year in Oklahoma.

Laney is charged with failure to comply with sex offender registration and terrorist hoax.
