FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Connor Neal went the distance on Tuesday night for Class AA No. 10 Fairmont Senior, throwing a perfect game in the Polar Bears’ 5-0 win over Lincoln.
Neal went seven innings on the mound in 90 pitches, finishing the game with 10 strikeouts. 65 of his 90 pitches were strikes and he threw first-pitch strikes to 16 of the 21 batters he faced.
Neal forced 10 ground ball outs in the win as well.
Offensively, Neal was 1 for 1 from the plate with two runs scored. Elijah Posey also scored two runs, going 1 for 3 on the night, while Ethan Hager finished with two RBIs for the Polar Bears.
It’s a Fairmont Senior team that just moved into the Class AA top 10 this week, improving to 3-1 on the young season with the win. Lincoln drops to 2-3.
The Polar Bears return to action on Wednesday against Preston, before facing Class AAA No. 7 Morgantown on Friday and Ritchie County Saturday in the McDonald’s Baseball Classic from Bridgeport.
