HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. — University erupted for 21 hits, including two grand slams, in a 22-11 road win over Hedgesville on Monday night.
Trevor Barnhart and Hunter Cottrell both had a grand slam apiece for the Hawks. Barnhart finished the game 4 for 6 with six RBIs and two runs scored, while Cottrell went 4 for 4 with six RBIs and a run scored.
Kaden Metheny went 3 for 3 with an RBI and three runs scored in the win as well.
Hunter Coe went 2 for 4, including a home run, with two RBIs and three runs scored in the loss for Hedgesville (8-7).
University improved to 4-6 with the win, but five of those losses came against out-of-state national competition in Florida during spring break.
The Hawks’ lone in-state loss came last week to No. 4 Wheeling Park 4-3.
