CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A man’s body has been discovered in the West Fork River, Harrison County Sheriff Robert Matheny confirmed Friday.

The body was discovered Thursday afternoon and sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston to determine the identity.

Matheny said the body was discovered outside of Clarksburg by city police and members of the Harrison County Drugs and Violent Crimes Task Force during a routine search.

Police do not yet know if the remains belong to a drowning victim that police were searching for in late March.
