Gallery: Berkeley Springs with shutout of Liberty Raleigh

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Berkeley Springs went 2-1 this past weekend in the McDonald’s Baseball Classic from Bridgeport and Clarksburg.

The Indians fell to Lincoln on Friday, before beating Liberty Raleigh on Saturday 3-0 and Independence 5-2.

In the win over Liberty, Mike Hovermale went 2 for 3 with an RBI, while Justin Stone went 1 for 3 with two RBIs. Cole Morris went six and two-thirds innings on the mound for Berkeley Springs, scattering four hits and striking out six.

Berkeley Springs entered this week 5-5 overall, having won five of seven.

Chris Begley went the distance for Liberty in the loss, giving up three runs on four hits and striking out six.

The Raiders also fell to No. 1 Bridgeport on Saturday 6-3 and entered this week with a 2-6 record.

Polar Bears hang on to edge East Fairmont, 3-2
Fairmont Senior got a complete game from Samuel Viani and run-scoring double from Ethan Miller during a two-run sixth inning. It was the only extra-base hit in the game.
