Monroe County offices “ready for business” again after mold discovery

UNION, W.Va. — Several offices that had to be relocated last week due to the discovery of mold have now reopened.

Monroe County Commission President Shane Ashley told MetroNews affiliate WJLS crews worked in the County Commission, Clerk and Assessor’s Offices last Wednesday through Friday.

Those offices were temporarily located to another part of the building last Monday. The County Commission decided last Tuesday to close the offices the rest of the week to allow mold remediation to continue.

“At this point we’ve got the first floor opened and ready for business. We’re starting on the courtroom on the second floor, they started on it Monday.”

Only a judge’s office has not moved back to its original location.

“It’s been an inconvenience to the public and it’s been an inconvenience to our employees,” Ashley said. “It’s like other issues, when something breaks you just gotta work the problem until you get it fixed. And that’s what we’re doing.”
