Oak Hill man charged with pointing gun, threatening child

OAK HILL, W.Va. — A Fayette County man is behind bars for allegedly pointing a gun at his girlfriend’s 13 year-old child.

Lloyd Smith, 39 of Oak Hill.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department said Lloyd Smith, 39 of Oak Hill, allegedly verbally threatened the child while pointing the gun. Lloyd was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a prior felony conviction.

Deputies searched his residence to attempt to locate the handgun and were not successful. Anyone with information on the handgun is urged to contact them at 304-574-3590.

Lloyd faces a felony charge of child neglect creating substantial risk of injury. He was taken to Southern Regional Jail after being unable to post $150,000.
