Fairmont Senior’s Taevon Horton to walk-on at WVU

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Fairmont Senior standout guard Taevon Horton this past weekend announced on Twitter he will be walking on at West Virginia.

“First of all I want to thank the man upstairs for blessing me with each and every opportunity I’ve had to this point. Second of all, I want to thank my family for everything they’ve done for me and the endless amount of support they give me day-in and day-out.

For those who know me, I’ve come a long way to get to where I am today and I’m truly blessed. I also want to thank my coaches for sticking with me through this journey and not giving up on me.

With that being said, I would like to take this time to thank everyone who has been in my corner and announce that I will be continuing my education and basketball career at West Virginia University. Thank you Coach Huggins and Coach Everhart for this opportunity!” – Taevon Horton @YKingT_1

Horton averaged 19.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game while shooting better than 50 percent from the floor this past season for the Polar Bears, helping lead his team to a 25-1 record and state runner-up finish.

He was named as the state’s Player of the Year by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association, winning the Evans Award. Horton joins other in-state products on the WVU roster in Chase Harler (Wheeling Central), Brandon Knapper (South Charleston) and Logan Routt (Cameron).
