MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Morgantown won its third straight game on Friday night, overall its fourth win in its last five games, beating Class AA No. 1 Bridgeport 5-1 in the Mon County Baseball Classic, presented by MVB Bank.
It was the second win for Morgantown (15-8) over the Indians this season, adding to a 4-2 win back on April 26.
The Mohigans were led by Caleb Taylor at the plate who drove in four runs, including a go-ahead three-run home run in the third.
Andrew Kerzak, Jamar Neal and Preston Fox all finished with two hits apiece, while Colton Matthews picked up the win on the mound.
Bridgeport (20-8) was limited to five hits in the loss.
Morgantown opens up sectional play next week against Buckhannon-Upshur, while Bridgeport is the top seed in Class AA Region 2, Section 1.
