Barbour County man charged with arson in March building fire

PHILIPPI, W.Va. — A Barbour County man is facing arson charges stemming from a March 2018 building fire.

Jeremy Alan Davis, 41 years old, of Philippi, was arrested on second degree arson charges and a felony charge of breaking and entering. The incident took place on March 8.

According to the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office, Davis is alleged to have broken in and started a fire to a former gas station, located at 22399 Barbour County Highway in Philippi. The building which was undergoing renovations at the time.

Davis was arraigned in the Barbour County Magistrate court and is currently detained at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail in lieu of $30,000 bond.

The arrest was made by WVSFMO investigators R.Sovastion and R.C. Ayersman, and deputies from the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office.
