Nicholas County school board approves new school plan

SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. — The Nicholas County Board of Education voted Monday in favor of a school building and consolidation plan.

The proposal includes closing the vocational school and high school in Craigsville and consolidating the schools with a new Summersville Middle School at the Glade Creek Business Park.

Richwood Middle and High schools will be added to Cherry River Elementary School in Richwood.

Summersville Elementary School will also be closed, and students would be moved into the Nicholas High School building.

The state Board of Education will next vote on the plan on Wednesday, and the state School Building Authority will meet Thursday on the matter.
