CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Thursday it was making $750,000 in funds available for the expansion of Quick Response Teams.

These units consist of emergency personnel and recovery providers with the purpose of contacting overdose victims within 72 hours of an overdose in an attempt to get them into a treatment program.

The department’s Bureau for Behavioral Health and Health Facilities has an open application for agencies with experience in serving people and families with substance use disorders. The proposals must be submitted by June 5.
