WINFIELD, W.Va. — Poca added its second win over a top 10 Class AA team in sectional play on Thursday night, beating No. 2 Winfield 9-6 in an elimination contest.

The Dots earlier in the week handed No. 7 Nitro an 5-2 defeat — the Wildcats were later eliminated by Winfield on Wednesday 8-1.

Ethan Payne led Poca on Thursday in the win over Winfield, going 3 for 4 with three runs scored, while Chaz Roberts and Tanner Miller both added two hits apiece.

Poca moves on to face Sissonville Friday in another elimination contest. The winner of that game will face No. 3 Wayne, which is still unbeaten in the postseason.
