UPDATE: Victim identified, more details in fatal Raleigh County bingo hall crash

Update 5.11.18, 10:30 am:

SOPHIA, W.Va. — The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department has released more information on a fatal Thursday night accident in Raleigh County.

Deputies responded to the area of Main Street near the Sophia Bingo Hall for calls of a vehicle accident. Upon arrival, they learned a woman attempted to pull onto Main Street eastbound when she was struck by another vehicle going westbound.

After being struck, the woman’s vehicle accelerated as she lost control and struck a parked vehicle, then continued through the wall of the bingo hall. Several patrons in the building were struck.

12 people were injured with conditions ranging from minor to critical. One of those hit died as a result of her injuries. She has been identified as Linda Keen.

The crash remains under investigation by the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department, Sophia Police Department and West Virginia State Police.

SOPHIA, W.Va. — One person died and several more were injured after a car crashed into a Raleigh County bingo hall.

The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department said it happened at 9:30 Thursday night. The business is located along Main Street.

Deputies have also confirmed one fatality and 12 people were injured. The identity of the deceased individual has not been released.

The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department and West Virginia State Police are investigating.

No further details were available from authorities Friday morning.
