UPDATE: Man accused of shooting 18 year-old in Princeton identified

Update 5.14.18, 10:30 am: 

PRINCETON, W.Va. — West Virginia State Police have identified Thomas Shine, 21 of Princeton, as the suspect in Sunday’s fatal shooting.

Shine is being charged with brandishing, voluntary manslaughter and wanton endangerment.

He is currently being held at the Southern Regional Jail in Raleigh County.

PRINCETON, W.Va. — A Mercer County teenager died Sunday after being shot during an altercation near Old Pisgah Road in Princeton.

According to state troopers, Bailey Dickerson, 18, of Princeton, was pronounced dead after suffering a gunshot wound. After Dickerson was shot, the vehicle he was driving went down Toni Lane and crashed into a residential garage. A vehicle in that garage crashed through a wall.

The person troopers allege fired the shot at Dickerson is in custody. Troopers haven’t released many details about the altercation. They did say a verbal altercation escalated.

The shooting and crash happened at about 1:45 p.m. Sunday.
