Flash flooding prompts road closures in Greenbrier County

MAXWELTON, W.Va. — Flash flooding from weekend storms across southeastern West Virginia prompted flash floods late Monday into early Tuesday.

As of 11 Tuesday morning, four roads remained closed in Greenbrier County:

  • Big Draft Road, White Sulphur Springs
  • Williamsburg Road, Williamsburg
  • Keister Road, Lewisburg
  • Snake Run Road, Alderson

A spokesperson for Greenbrier County 911 told MetroNews affiliate WJLS that the entire Greenbrier River is a primary area of concern.

The National Weather Service is calling for showers and thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and evening.

There is also a possibility of “widespread hazardous weather” Wednesday through Monday, according to the agency.
