Man killed in Monongalia County crash

WESTOVER, W.Va. — A man was killed in a vehicle crash on Interstate 79 Wednesday morning in Monongalia County, authorities said.

The victim was traveling south near the Westover exit when it’s believed a medical episode caused him to lose control and head toward the northbound lanes. According to authorities, his vehicle made contact with another vehicle and both ended up in the median.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman driving the other vehicle was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The wreck occurred at just before 6:45 a.m.
